This is a brief for NGO's who need design work, not specifically for the Good News Project.

Good News Brief

There are many communication professionals who want to help good people doing good work

The problem is that it often takes too much time to get the information they need to be able to commit to a specific project at a specific time. Communication professionals work a little differently from other creatives. If they are interested in a project, they will somehow make the time to do it, if they possibly can. For many, it's not about the money. With good causes that they are interested in, it's about passion.

If you give them the information they need to make a decision, you also give them the opportunity of using their professional skills by donating their creative time in service of helping you make a better world.

To help make the connection, Cyrano asks you to fill in the information in the Cyrano Design Brief, see below:

What does your organization do?

If you have a website, that's the best way to answer this question. If you don't, keep it very real. Creatives love real.

The Project

1. How much money - in total (don't forget printing and postage and staff time) can you comfortably commit to getting this project done?

None is an acceptable answer, as little as possible is not helpful.

2. What do you want different people to do, after they have seen your piece?

Try to include everyone who is going to be touched by the piece. Board Members, 8.Potential Funders, Paid Staff, Volunteer Staff, Clients, Government and whoever else is important in your world.

"Become aware of ...., is not a helpful answer. Come to a dinner, give money, email for further information, become a volunteer is much better...

3. What words and pictures do you have that can be used in this piece?

Is there a library of photographs that you have? Do you have a writer? Do you already have words used in a previous piece? Do you have video footage of your organization?

The Process

4. Who is the person in your organization that gets to say "OK, This is ok to publish".

5. Who is the point person who will be in charge of getting information to the Creative Professional and approving proofs?

6. Are you comfortable using best practice network communication?

A version of email, internet based project management software.

You can get in touch with Cyrano, if you need some clarification for this question.

7. Are face to face meetings absolutely necessary, if so will one or two telephone calls work?

    • The Deadlines**

8. Exactly what has to be where, by when?

9. How fast can you give feedback on proofs?
