Output of this stage: a design brief that outlines the voice and the message of the product**


The job of the creative director is to manage the "voice" of the piece that is to be produced.


Often the most value is created when there is an open collaboration between the Creative Director and the client to finetune the purpose of the communication and how it best fits into the client's time and money constraints.


Most often in freelance projects this step is not well defined. It is best to get the process and the payment for this part of the project settled before the project starts.


The outcome of this stage is the Design Brief. If there is no clear design brief posted, put in some time in the schedule and money in the budget to get it done, before the project starts.
